Periodontal Care

Studies show that over 75 percent of adults suffer from periodontal disease, also called gum disease. It can easily go unnoticed because the early warning signs are mild – swelling and bleeding of the gums. But periodontal disease can lead to other health problems, including heart disease, stroke, diabetes complications, and pre-term labor.

Dr. Wing, Dr. Mack, and Dr. Smith offer periodontal treatment, including soft tissue laser therapy, for patients in the Newark and Columbus areas. During your regular check up, our hygienist will assess your mouth for signs of periodontal disease and other oral problems. If you have advanced periodontitis, we may refer you to a trusted gum therapy specialist, a periodontist, for treatment. For early stage periodontal disease, we may recommend:

• Non-surgical soft tissue maintenance
• Arestin antibiotic treatment
• Scaling and root planing
• Laser therapy
